Who it's for / where it goes

The dusk-to-dawn area light is for outdoor or garage-related lighting where a wall-mounted position and automatic photocell switching fit the layout. Its selectable white temperatures let you choose the appearance, while the published output remains a separate check on how much light the area needs.

Check before you buy
  • Size and fit. Published size: 248 x 176 x 89 mm. Compare the published metric body dimensions with the available wall space and any overhang. Ask for the full mounting drawing, projection and clearances if replacing an existing area light. Colour selection does not change the mounting requirements or remove shadows caused by the building.
  • Brightness. About as much light as 6 ordinary 60-watt household bulbs (5,000 lumens; an old 60-watt bulb gives about 800).
  • Power and installation. Hardwired. Needs a fixed connection to the building wiring. Electrical rating: 42 W. Supply: 110-240 V, 60 Hz.
  • Location. Wet locations, indoors and outdoors.
  • Controls. Dimming: No, not for use with dimmers. Sensor: Dusk-to-dawn photocell.

Questions buyers ask

Can I pick a motion light by its sensor angle alone?

Z-XY-BL50-CCT uses a dusk-to-dawn photocell rather than a published motion-detection range. The photocell decides when ambient light is low; it does not describe the area illuminated. Use the lumen figure and request distribution or layout information if you need to light a particular driveway or yard. Full guide: Choosing an outdoor security light.

Does changing the colour temperature change the coverage?

The area light’s three named white settings describe the light’s appearance. They do not move the housing or establish a different coverage area around the wall. Use the published output as a starting comparison and request distribution information for the intended mounting height. If the aim is to improve visibility along a drive, compare geometry and obstructions first rather than selecting the coolest setting as a substitute for a layout check. Full guide: Wall pack lights.

Can I dim a dusk-to-dawn wall pack?

The same control question matters for this area-light format: Z-XY-BL50-CCT is published as not for use with dimmers. Its photocell provides dusk-to-dawn switching, and its colour selector provides a separate appearance choice. If your existing circuit uses a dimmer, resolve that compatibility issue before purchase. The wet-location statement permits comparison for outdoor exposure, but does not add dimming, motion detection or an unlisted manual override. Full guide: Wall pack lights.
