Short answers to the questions people ask most, with a link to the page that has the detail.

Which light colour should I choose for a room?

Colour temperature is measured in Kelvin. 2700K is the amber of an old incandescent bulb; 5000K is blue-white daylight. Warm and cosy, or bright and crisp: choose the feeling first, then look for the number. By category, as the products are listed on this site:

  • Garage & shop lights: 5000K (daylight). For garages, basements, workshops, laundry and utility rooms.
  • Work lights: 5000K (daylight). For job sites, workbenches, barns, anywhere the job moves.
  • Kitchen & home lights: 2700K–3000K (warm white to soft white). For kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, hallways.
  • Outdoor & security lights: 2700K–5000K (warm white to daylight). For decks, patios, porches, driveways, side doors.
  • Grow lights: full spectrum, red and blue, for plants rather than for lighting a room.

Try the colours on a room.

Where do I find a light's colour temperature?

Every Zone product page states its colour temperature. The band is drawn the same way on every box, every product page and every listing, so once you have read it you can read it anywhere.

How much light does a garage need?

It depends on what you do in it. Parking needs far less light than working on the car, and fine work at the bench needs more again. The garage light guide gives lumens for 1, 2 and 3-car garages from published IES light levels, with the maths shown, and the light finder sizes it for you.

What does UL listed mean on Zone wire connectors?

UL listed means evaluated by UL to the standard shown in each row’s Listing column on the wire connectors page, as published on that Zone listing. The standards used are UL 486C (splicing wire connectors), UL 486G (sealed splicing connectors for damp, wet and direct-burial locations), UL 467 (grounding and bonding equipment) and UL 486A-B (wire connectors for copper and aluminium conductors).

Is every Zone product listed?

A listing belongs to a product, not to a brand. The certifications page shows the listing recorded for each product that has one, and each product page states the listing printed on that product.

Where can I buy Zone products?

Zone products are sold through retailers; this site has no cart. A product page shows a store button only after someone has checked that the exact product is listed there. Online: the Zone store on Amazon and Zone wire connectors on Amazon. For any other product, email [email protected] with your ZIP code and Zone replies with where to buy it.

How do I contact Zone?

Questions about a light, a listing or a program: [email protected]. Retail buyers and distributors can ask for the line sheet.

Why are there no star ratings here?

Customer reviews and star ratings are not reproduced on this site; they are read on the retailer listing. Each product with a verified listing links to it.
