4 ft LED shop lights: which type?
A 4 ft shop light is the standard light for a garage, basement or workshop ceiling. They differ in where the LEDs are (in tubes or built in), how the fixture is sealed, and how it gets power. Here is each type, with what the Zone product page publishes for it.

“Not published” means the product page does not state it yet; it is not a “no”. Watts, lumens, wiring and listing marks are added to each product page as its datasheet is confirmed. Nothing here is estimated.
Tube shop light or integrated LED?
A tube fixture holds LED tubes that can be replaced on their own. The 4 ft 2-light shop light (ZF2208-SP) uses two T8 LED tubes, sold separately. T8 is the tube size: one inch across. An integrated fixture has the LEDs built into the housing, so there is nothing to fit: the 4 ft integrated shop light (Z-B2003L) is published as “integrated LED, no tubes” with a pull chain on the fixture.
Strip lights and vapor-tight lights
A strip light is a plain, open fixture for a ceiling or a beam: the 4 ft 2-light strip light (ZF2207-ST) is published as ballast-free, two lamps. A vapor-tight light has a sealed housing for spaces that get damp: the 4 ft vapor-tight light (Z-L2402-WBF) is published as “sealed housing, for damp spaces”.
Plug-in, hardwired or linkable?
A plug-in shop light has a cord and plugs into an outlet; a hardwired one connects to the building wiring, which is work for a qualified electrician; a linkable one powers the next light in a row. Of the Zone 4 ft lights, the ZF2208-SP is published as plugging in. Hardwiring and linking are not yet published for any of them, so this page does not claim them. Ask by model at [email protected].
No wiring at all: screw-in garage lights
If the garage has a bare bulb socket, these lights screw straight into it:
- 5,000 lumen garage bulb (Z-TB50): 5,000 lm, 36 W.
- Garage bulb with shade (Z-XL-GL50): 5,000 lm, 60 W.
- 3-panel garage light.
- Motion-activated 3-panel garage light (Z-JG-80AL-M): 8,000 lm, 80 W.
- 4-panel garage light (Z-JG-120AL): 12,000 lm, 120 W.
Taller ceilings
For a pole building or a shop with a high ceiling, look at a high bay instead of a 4 ft fixture. The Zone linear high bay is published as: hangs from chains; wide beam for tall ceilings.
How many 4 ft lights?
Work out the lumens the space needs, then divide by the lumens printed on the light you choose. The garage light guide has the numbers for 1, 2 and 3-car garages and workshops, from published IES light levels.
